Mary Ann Schlies, of Casco, passed away after a short illness on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the age of 82, due to heart failure. She was born in the town of Montpelier to the late Joseph B. and Agatha A. (Dukert) Krummel on September 15, 1942. Mary Ann lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for simple pleasures.
A dedicated wife and mother, Mary Ann cherished her family above all else. She shared 59 beautiful years with her beloved husband, Joseph Schlies, who survives her. Her love and devotion extended to her children, Dr. Christine (Schlies) Berg, Tom Schlies (wife Wendy), Diane Schlies, and Greg Schlies, who will forever hold her memory dear. She was a proud grandmother to Braeden, Connor, and Kaitlyn, who she cherished.
Mary Ann had a green thumb and found solace and delight in her garden. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and delicious aromas, where her baking skills were legendary. She had an eye for a good deal and enjoyed the thrill of finding bargains. When the music played, Mary Ann's feet were sure to follow, as she loved to dance to the lively rhythms of Polka music.
She is also survived by her siblings, Pat Rabida, Robert (Marilyn) Krummel, Jim Krummel, and Harold (Lorraine) Krummel, who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Joe and sister Sylvia.
