Melva E. Fager

February 3, 1927 — October 31, 2023

Melva E. Fager (Kudick), 96, of Green Bay, formerly of Luxemburg, went to be with Jesus in her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. She was born on February 3, 1927, to the late Gustav and Irene (Habeck) Kudick. Melva was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Montpelier. She was baptized on February 20, 1927, and confirmed on April 6, 1941. On May 12, 1945, she married Milton W. Fager. Together they were blessed with four children. Milton preceded her in death on June 29, 1997. Melva loved her family and friends dearly. She enjoyed fishing and wood crafting with Milton, quilting with her St. Paul church friends, volunteering, and playing cards at the Senior Center at St. John’s Church, Luxemburg. She had a green thumb when it came to growing plants, flowers, and gardening. She loved Christmas and making cutout cookies. Family Christmas parties were always made special by her. She enjoyed baking and cooking, and all her grandkids couldn’t wait for her famous peanut butter bars and rice pudding. Melva was a homemaker but also worked outside the home part of her life. Her last job was at Krohn’s Dairy where she packaged cheese. Melva is survived by her children: Darrell (Carol) Fager, FL; Allen (Sandra) Fager, FL; LoAnn (Ernie) Gaudette, TX; and Lori (Mike) DeGrave, Green Bay. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kevin (Tracy) Fager, Nancy (Scott) Behnke, Joshua (Chelsey) Fager, Jessica (Cole) Rasmussen, Nicolle Gaudette, Emily Gaudette, Kimberly Gaudette, Andrew (Kelly) DeGrave, and Matthew (Shelley) DeGrave. Her great grandchildren: Kelsey (Evan) Graczyk, Tyler (Mikaila) Fager, Shane O’Connor, Baby Rasmussen due in December, Jordan & Kate DeGrave, Amelia & Everly DeGrave. Her great great grandchild: Jackson Graczyk and Baby Graczyk due in November. Additional survivors are her sisters: Caroline Everson, Garnet Dahlke; her brother, Karl (Jeanette) Kudick; and her sister-in-law, Judy Kudick. Melva was preceded in death by her husband Milton Fager, sister: Marian Raduenz, brothers and sister-in-law’s: Gordon Kudick, Melvin (Betty) Kudick, Vernand (Julia) Kudick, brother-in-law’s: Reuben Raduenz, Edward Everson, Marvin Dahlke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s: Leonard (Hilda) Fager, Arno (Gertrude) Doell. Melva resided at Edenbrook of Green Bay nursing home for the last two years. She will be dearly missed, and always hold a special place in the hearts of many. Friends may call 9:00am to 10:45am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Montpelier, on Monday, November 6, 2023. The funeral will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Dr. Daniel Olson officiating. Burial in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. The family wishes to give special thanks to her sister, Caroline Everson, for her tender loving care and to Pastor Olson for the many visits and prayers.
