Michael G. Gilliame

January 4, 1947 — January 17, 2023

Michael “Mike” G. Gilliame On Tuesday, January 17th, 2023, Michael “Mike” Gilliame ,76, passed away unexpectedly at his cottage in Luxemburg, WI. He was born on January 4th, 1947, in Green Bay, WI to parents Ralph “Fuzzy” and Rita (Webb) Gilliame. Mike served as a US Marine early in his life and worked at Fort Howard Paper Co. When he was ready to settle down, he started his own appraising and real estate business in Green Bay, WI where his two sons were born. Through his real estate career, he made a lot of lifelong friends and associates. He also met the love of his life, Vonda Lee. Mike sold Vonda a home that flooded soon after. He went to pick her up for what she thought was a trip to the Fleet Farm to help with clean up, but in true Mike fashion, he pulled into River’s Bend instead. The rest is history. They were married on the 4th of July at the beloved cottage and just celebrated 25 years of marriage. Mike and Vonda lived a wonderful life with their time split between Marco Island, Florida and their cottage in Door County, WI. For the couple it was always friends and family first and they traveled the country for birthdays, weddings, graduations, and family gatherings. Mike was very special to so many people. Whether it was meeting his buddies at the marina for “beer-thirty” or going to lunch with his family, Mike always brought his big personality to everywhere he went. He had a lot of places that made him happy. Just a few short years ago, he purchased his own piece of heaven on the Bay for him to be able to spend more time with his family and grandchildren. They made so many memories there with campfires, swimming and watching all the remarkable sunsets. Another place that was a huge part of Mike’s life was Marco Island, Florida. He and Vonda met many incredible friends. They had years of life with boating in both Wisconsin and Florida. They welcomed all their visitors with open arms and were happy to show people the joyful place of Marco Island. Mike also helped manage the condo complex that he lived in for over 15 years where he was often referred to as “The Mayor”. To say the least, Mike will be very missed by so many in Wisconsin and Florida alike. He is survived by his wife Vonda “Jones” Gilliame, his sons Mark (Melissa) Gilliame; Jeff (Cristy) Gilliame and his grandchildren Holly Gilliame, Zach (Danielle) Gilliame, Jordan (Kayla) Gilliame, Katie Gilliame, Ashley (Daniel) Egan, Picabo (Derek) Cardenas and eleven great grandchildren. His siblings Jeanne Miller; Steve (Barb) Gilliame; Sally (Richard) Hopfensperger, and many nieces and nephews. Mike is proceeded in death by his parents Ralph “Fuzzy” and Rita Gilliame. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, between 1:00 and 4:00 pm on Monday, January 23, 2023.
