Muriel C. Charles

Muriel Celia Charles, devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother, passed away at the age of 90 on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at her home in Green Bay with family by her side. She was born to the late Walter Friex and Josephine (Paul) Nellis on April 25, 1932, in Luxemburg, WI. After high school, she married James Charles and on October 25, 2022, they celebrated 73 years of marriage. Together they raised two sons and three daughters. For over 20 years, Muriel drove bus for special needs children and many of her co-workers and school families became lifelong friends. Time spent with family and friends often included a game or two of cards. Recently, she finally admitted she may have cheated a time or two. Muriel loved her sweets and would never turn down a homemade cookie. She cherished the many fond memories she made on her casino trips. Muriel is survived by her husband Jim; five children: Kathy (Tom) Worachek, Green Bay, WI; Christine Kane, Shawano, WI; Tom (Mari) Charles, DePere, WI; Patty (Russ) DelMarcelle, Ontonagan, MI; and Jay (Vicky) Charles, Green Bay, WI. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; two sisters: Carol (Charlie) Stoxen, Dykesville, WI and Laverne (Don) Dalebroux, Tigard, OR and many nieces and nephews. Muriel is preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, one infant son (Joseph), and two infant granddaughters. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at St. Bernard Church, Green Bay, with Father Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Visitation will occur at the church beginning at 9 am. Entombment in the Shrine of The Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many relatives, friends, neighbors and caregivers for their generous and comforting support during this difficult time.
