Myron J Van Den Plas

Myron J. Van Den Plas, 75, lifelong resident of Humboldt Township, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife by his side, on Wednesday September 15, 2021, following an 18 month courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born to the late Clarence J. & Pauline C. (Pieschek) Van Den Plas on January 6, 1946, in the town of Humboldt. On August 27, 1966, he married the love of his life, Kathi M. Zellner. He retired from Brown County Highway Department in 2004 after a thirty-year career. Myron and Kathi took over the Van Den Plas family farm in 1976 and farmed until 1996 in Humboldt. After his retirement he kept busy tinkering in his shop while listening to all his favorite polka music. He loved watching Molly B religiously. He enjoyed helping his son on his farm in the town of Eaton. His pastime activities included loving up Moe & Curly (his donkeys), playing cards, enjoying family time at the cabin in Crivitz, fishing and hunting with his son Kurt and going to his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed organizing the Town of Humboldt Sesquicentennial celebration. He was an active member of the Frontier Farmers and St Thomas the Apostle Parish in Sugarbush. Myron is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathi and their four sons, Brian (Sheila), Luxemburg; Kurt (Bobbie Jo), Kewaunee; Jason, Humboldt; Nate (Jessica), Eaton; 13 grandchildren, Alex (Paige), Kiley (Ryan) Thayse, Kacey, Amanda, Breanna, Courtney, Zak, Hope, Hailey, Austin, Aiden, Connor and Landen; one great granddaughter, Zoey; one brother, Ray (Sandy) Van Den Plas, Green Bay; brothers in law and sisters-in-law, Bev Zellner, Dennis (MaryAnn) Zellner, Lyle (Marci) Zellner, Jim (Mary) Salentine, all of Luxemburg; many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends. He is proceeded in death by one infant granddaughter, Ashley; his parents Clarence & Pauline Van Den Plas; one sister Mary; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alois and Marie Zellner; two brothers in law and one sister-in-law, Ron Zellner; Jan & Joe Etienne. Family and friends may call at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 5930 Humboldt Rd, Luxemburg, Sunday September 19, 2021, between 1:00 and 5:00pm with a closing prayer service at 5pm. Visitation continues Monday, September 20, 2021, between 9:30 and 10:45am at St. Thomas The Apostle Church. Funeral 11:00 am on Monday at the church with Rev. Carlo Villaluz officiating and Cheryl Maricque Pastoral Minister, assisting. Entombment in The Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
