Shirley A Urbanek

Shirley Ann Urbanek, 75, of Kewaunee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, WI. She was born January 21, 1945, in Kewaunee to the late Robert and Leona (Stuebs) Schunke. Shirley grew up in Kewaunee and attended Kewaunee High School. On Sept. 28, 1963, she married Edward J. Urbanek in Kewaunee. He preceded her in death on Mar. 22, 2003. Shirley enjoyed cooking, reading and putting together puzzles. She was an excellent cook, working for many restaurants in the Kewaunee area including the Alaskan Supper Club, Karsten Hotel and Birchwood Inn. She enjoyed cooking for her extended family and her potato salad, Thanksgiving stuffing and Chex mix were legendary within the family. Shirley survived a serious car accident 15 years ago and she dealt with the subsequent limitations and health issues with amazing strength and grace. She was truly one of sweetest women you would ever meet but also had a feisty side if she did not agree! She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Shirley is survived by her brother; Richard (Jane) Schunke of Kewaunee; sisters Diane (Larry) Schneider of Kewaunee; LouAnn (Ron) Sisel of Green Bay and sister-in-law Diane Schunke of Kewaunee, step-son Doug Bitzan of Algoma, step-grandchildren Lukas and Derek Bitzan of Algoma, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, brother; Harold Schunke, and brother-in-law, Kent DeJardin. Due to Covid-19, private family services were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kewaunee with Rev. Matthew Sprunger officiating. Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
