Steven G. Barrett, 49, of Luxemburg passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 17, 2018 due to a tragic accident. Steve was born March 11, 1969 to David and Marilyn (Marcelle) Barrett. He was raised on the family farm in Luxemburg. Steve enjoyed being active and always found ways to keep himself busy; usually tinkering with a tractor or forklift and bowling those 300 games. He loved spending time with his sons, whether it was hunting, stock car races, baseball, football or competing in tractor pulls. He was employed at Conger Toyota-Lift as a forklift mechanic and was very proud to have been there for more than 20 years. He strived for the highest level of achievement, earning several honors and accolades in his trade. Steve always had a deep faith and taught Religion and Confirmation classes at St. James Church in Cooperstown. Steve was a generous soul, always there to lend a hand. He was quick to help anyone, mentor a teen who needed an ear, or assist a family in need. He had a true passion for helping others. Family was everything to Steve. He was to be married in September to Jennifer Connelly. Jenny and Steve met on a blind date a year and a half ago and their love quickly blossomed. They were looking forward to joining their family of his two boys and her three girls, which he loved like his own. He is survived by his parents, sons, Adam and Josh, fiancé Jenny Connelly and her children Kianna, Cambria and Kaydia Wilson, brothers Randy (Becky) Barrett, Rick (Laurie) Barrett, Craig (Kari) Barrett, and sister Lori (Steve) LeMay.
